Oversize Load Times Of Movement:
1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset.
Monday thru Saturday ; No Sunday travel.
Loads 120' - 150' restricted from 9am - 3pm, Monday - Friday.
Travel prohibited on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.
Permit office closed on the above holidays as well as Martin Luther King Day, Washington's Birthday, Columbus Day, Confederate Memorial Day, Jefferson Davis Birthday & Veteran's Day.

Pilot Car / Escort Vehicle is Required:
Over 12' wide requires 2 pilot cars
Over 76' to 105' long requires 1 pilot car
Over 105' long requires 2 pilot cars
Over 16' high requires 1 pilot car with height pole
Rear overhang over 5' requires 1 pilot car
Front overhang over 10' requires 1 pilot car
Pilot Car Vehicle Requirments:
Passenger vehicle or light truck under 10,000 lbs, Gross Vehicle Weight.
Sign using Yellow or orange background. Minimum size is 48" wide, 10" high x 2" wide black letters "OVERSIZE LOAD" ONLY!! Front & Rear bumper or Roof Mount.
Sign must be removed, retracted or covered when not escorting a load.
Flashing/Rotating Amber light. Roof mount only. Visible @ 1,000′ with 120 degrees visibilty.
CB or 2-way radio with at least ½ mile range.
Orange vest or jacket.
Stop / Slow hand sign.
Two hand flags 16" square.
Pilot Car Operator Requirements:
Escort must register insurance with Alabama being the State certificate holder
(If not, subject to fine and revocation of permits)
Pilot Cars must maintain a minimum of 500′ from the front / rear of the load
